I took the liberty to imagine, devotionally, what hats Jesus would have worn by his titles, his work and whom he is.
Prophet’s Hat
The woman at the well knew Jesus was a prophet when he told her all about her life, even though he had just met her.
“The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.“ John 4:19
He prophesied about many things, about people, the future even of his death.
Priest’s Hat
He was the great high priest, holy and undefiled, who did God’s work on behalf of Israel and the world. Since He was taken up into heaven, His work continues by making intercessions between man and God.
"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." Hebrews 4:14
“ But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:24-25
“who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. Hebrews 7:27
King’s Hat
Jesus, a descendant of King David, answered Pilate’s question plainly.
”Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king….” John 18:37
He is now sitting on the right hand of the Father, and will come again to set up His kingdom.
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Shepherd’s Hat
Jesus is the good shepherd. He leads and takes care of us, his sheep.
“
I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.” John 10:14
I do hope that you:
Recognize His Titles.
Believe the work he did for you.
Know and follow Him daily, because of who He is.
Though he has many hats, and many more, only he was able to fulfill and accomplish the work that all the hats represent.
